The Odd Tribes That Make Up the Gay Male Sexual/Social Identity

·

Woodland animals, some variation of Zaddy, Twink/Twunk, Furry/Fetish… and where do I fit in? This whole thing can be confusing…and fun.

Am I a Daddy (older sexy male)? Zaddy (older stylish sexy male)? ←I am not even really sure that’s what Zaddy means. I know Pedro Pascal is supposed to be one.

Give me a moment to recover from the light-headed swoon I just had thinking of Pedro.

… sigh … I mean, have you seen him?

Back to it. Am I a woodland creature like a Bear (hairy big guy) or Otter (hairy skinnier guy) ← probably not yet, and I am not like hairy hairy. Or am I a Wolf (aggressive)← I can be ;)? I have been labeled a wolf twice without asking.

And if anyone asks me to howl… I will bite them. Depending on who asks, it will be a fun bite or not…

I am not a Twink (young slender) or Twunk (young hunk) or Furry (costumes) or Fetish (leather, mostly) even though I think quite a bit of Fetish wear is hot.

Or on one app, I am a “The Guy Next Door” type. I kind of like that but… boring.

Back in the day, older men were chickenhawks, and younger men were the chickens. I wonder if those labels were only used in the southern states? I never cared for those labels and am glad they aren’t in common use.

When I first re-entered the gay community and learned of all these labels I thought that this was all just weird gay sh*t. But now I get it. Like every large community, we develop our own tribes within the community. It’s nice, fun(ny), healthy, and a way we thrive together as friends and with the greater LGBTQ+ community.

But woodland creatures? lol

I tend to attract bears and the guy next door types so maybe I am in between those two tribes.

It doesn’t matter I guess. I am self-confident to not declare allegiance to a particular group and yet embrace the adventure.

Do you find this phenomenon interesting? confusing? Let me know.
